Abstract Art

Abstract paintings consisted of shapes, lines, and forms meant to create a separate reality from the visual world. Abstract Expressionists wished to emphasize the accident and chance in their work, but often highly planned their execution.Abstract art emphasized the depiction of emotions rather than objects. Most painters of the movement favored large canvasses, dramatic colors, and loose brushwork Abstract artists saw painting as a pure expression of emotion and means of visual communication.

Jackson Pollock: American painter.january 11 1912 - august 11 1956 and was born in cody, wybong U.S. he was a great influence on abstarct art. Jackson pallock wished to potray paint texture and the movement of the artists hand. Abstract artists like pollock wished to emphasize the accident and chance in their work, but often highly planned their execution.

This is one piece called 'male and female' by jackson pollock painted in 1942. like all abstract art it can be determined in many different ways. but the fact that pollock has given a clear name for it helps us determine what is in the picture. i like this painting beacusae it is different. pollock uses a range of coulours and techniques to create it.

This other peice again by pollock is called 'easter and totem' was painted in 1953. Jackson Pollock said regarding his art "When I am in a painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making changes, destroying the image, etc, because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well." this particular painting strikes to me as i still cant qwite make out what it is, so everytime i look at it i get a different intreprtation, and thats what i like about it!
